My baby crawled around inside a playpen, while I was working 12-hour shifts in sanding floors and taking down the wallpaper. Ha! It was all falling into place, however we were nowhere near done. The project would require the time, energy, and of course my favourite shopping experience for furniture to decorate this home. To stay on budget I began going to estate sales along with my three boys searching for gems hidden in the dirt. It was a weekly tradition that we would go through estate and garage sales on Saturdays and Thursdays buying a mixture of old and new pieces. My next task was to spend the rest of my time painting and sanding outside in our driveway. The furniture looked like this... and that's where I got my passion for restoration. No matter what, the house was already decorated. There was a spot on the market in town where I would sell my pieces. I was able to outgrow the area because I had many more pieces than I could use. At home, I began hosting open houses in which more than 1000 people could come in and purchase any product they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was created in this home. The business I was running was growing however my family was also growing. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business and becoming a mother. Growing Days just seemed to work. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. I loved where my business was going, but I wanted to take a breather. I decided to stop working on my antique furniture and stay home with the kids. The time was right. After a while, after that, the phone began to call. They asked for my assistance in decorating and renovations. A majority of these were those who had walked through my home during the open house for furniture! It wasn't long before I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. It began with taking clients one by one with a speed I felt comfortable with. It would have probably made me laugh if I had told you that it would be the foundation of a DIY Network tv series. It's fun to reflect to the idea.
